Prejudice & Inequality
Perceived (or real) Horizontal and vertical inequalities between groups are likely to be a cause of conflict and violence. Prejudice between groups compounds this further and combined are often at the detriment to the most vulnerable in society that have their opportunity to benefit from equality of opportunity diminished and instead are exploited. History has shown that prejudice and inequality can be used to justify the most horrific use of violence toward others. Our programmes and services aim to challenge both prejudice and inequality by supporting individuals, organizations and communities to better understand the relationship between these factors and conflict and violence and develop their capacities to embrace diversity for the development of stronger, safer and more cohesive places to live, work and learn.
