Our Objectives

The Common Ground Foundation aims to deliver a range of educational and development interventions that seek to support individuals, groups, organisations and communities to build their capacities to resolve conflict in each of its forms progressively and away from the use of violence. We do so whilst promoting values that include mutual understanding through shared values, active citizenship, peaceful cooperation and Equality of Opportunity for all within the delivery of our programmes and services. To this end we will:

  • Create intercultural learning and development opportunities that empower and capacity build individuals groups and organisations to contribute to the progressive development of stronger, safer and more resilient communities.
  • Undertake continual research and development in the identifiable elements of the causes of conflict and violence within and between individuals, groups, organisations and communities to enable conflict to be better understood and be progressively transformed.
  • Develop programmes and services that create opportunity, promote greater intercultural understanding, Human Rights and which address inequality whilst also seeking to support individuals to become positive change makers within their communities by enabling them to understand their rights and its relationship to responsibility through citizenship education.
  • Support individuals to explore their identity and its relationship with conflict in order to empower individuals to have a greater understanding of their origins and support them to transform identity related conflict progressively.
  • Deliver conflict transformation capacity building programmes to organisations in a manner that enables them to enhance their capacity to serve local communities effectively and/or transform conflict within their organisations to develop their effectiveness within service delivery
  • Develop programmes and services that relate to the above stated aims and which are delivered to ensure sustainability of the organisation through income generation to enable the Foundation to continue to deliver its work for the benefit of individuals, organisations and communities
