Our Governance
The Common Ground Foundation (CGF) is currently operating as a company limited by guarantee registered in England and Wales (company number 06266777) working for charitable purposes. Our registered office in the UK is 31 Willows Road, Walsall, West Midlands, WS1 2DP.
The Foundation’s Directors oversee its operation ensuring that we deliver our programmes and services in a manner which is equitable, effective, in line with its overall objectives and in a manner which best guarantees good governance.
The Foundation’s Learning & Development Team carry out the Foundations daily operations in line with the aims and objectives outlined within our business plan and governing documents.
In 2010 it is expected that the Foundation will become a Community Interest Company registered within the UK continuing to operate with the same goals under the Community Interest Company legal structure. Community Interest Companies (CICs) are limited companies with special additional features created for the use of people who want to conduct a business or other activity for community benefit, and not purely for private advantage. This is achieved by a community interest test and an asset lock, which ensure that the CIC is established for community purposes and the assets and profits are dedicated to these purposes. Registration of a company such as ours as a CIC has to be approved by the CIC Regulator who also has a monitoring and enforcement role.
